For decades, the Ford F-150 has been the reigning champion of the pickup truck segment, with its close competitor the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. However, the new Silverado 1500 has critics thinking Ford may have finally met its match. The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 got its world debut onstage at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit to a fanfare of excitement.
The exterior of the Silverado 1500 has gotten a total overhaul, with a notable new grille with bold air channels beside each headlight for improved aerodynamics. The 2019 model will also have the largest pickup bed in its class thanks to the fact that Chevy’s design team tacked seven inches of width onto the truck.
The Chevy Silverado 1500 also dropped 450 pounds in its mixed-material construction. It was crafted to be more aerodynamic than ever in order to improve efficiency without sacrificing the Silverado’s signature performance and capability.
The new Silverado 1500 doesn’t have information on specs for the 2019 model or the interior yet, but Chevrolet says the cabin has been redesigned to give a more sophisticated and upscale vibe. The model lineup has also expanded to include two new models.
